DON’T APPLY UNTIL…

Comin’ at ya with a “pizza” advice I promised yesterday on how to make yourself more marketable to employers.

I cannot stress enough the importance of making sure you’re fully prepared to apply for a job — yes, your resume is a huge part in getting a job offer, but even more important than that is the ability to be properly and effectively contacted.

So before you apply, make sure you take a couple of precautions:

  1. Set up your voicemail (Nothing is more irritating than when “The person you are trying to reach has a voicemail that is not set up yet.)
  2. Make a personal/professional greeting so the employer trying to contact you knows they’re leaving a voicemail for the right person.
  3. CLEAN OUT YOUR VOICEMAIL INBOX: If we can’t leave you a message, how will you know we were trying to call?
  4. Please, please, PLEASE create a professional e-mail

Just a few tips on how to make your life (and a recruiter’s life) a bit easier when it comes to job/candidate search.

Come back next Monday for a couple more tips on how to make yourself more marketable 🙂
