Dear Mom

“She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness…there are many virtuous and capable women of this world, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31: 25-28, 29.

Dear Mom,

Growing up I didn’t really see it – how hard you worked, how strong you are, the way you turn your cheek to negativity, and the love that you radiate.

You always give and never ask. You always listen and you always said what needed to be heard… even if I didn’t want to listen. You are patient and kind and the most forgiving person I know. Your love and support lift me up towards my dreams and your advice and honesty keeps me grounded until I’m ready.  Your hugs hold me together when I feel like my whole world is falling apart, and your relentless strength keeps me moving forward. You’ve taught all of us how to love, how to encourage, how to forgive, and how to work hard. You’re a diligent worker, a wonderful mother, and you’re loved by all who know you.

So mom, thank you for all that you do and all that you are. Thank you for being my silver-lining, for being my guidance in the dark, for the endless love and advice, and for your unwavering patience. Every day you inspire me to be better, to work harder, and live the dreams that I so wildly think up. Today and every day is yours – thank you for everything you have done, everything you do, and everything you will do. Happy Mother’s Day!

       With all my love,

Sydney
